Systems Development Unit TME/Design Engineer for Mobility Solutions
For Cisco, Internet of Things is the next big bet. Cisco is developing solutions for Mobility market as part of the SP and Enterprise Mobility Solution. SDU is looking for an experienced and a highly dynamic individual who can be the Technical Marketing Engineer/Design Engineer of the System for its Mobility Solutions.
SDUs mission is to enable Service Providers and Enterprise Customers to succeed by delivering architected, tested and documented systems that provide 1+1=3 value equations for our customers, leveraging a cross-platform & cross-BU approach.
The Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) concentrates on testing a nascent system including early proof of concept (PoC) efforts, supporting its launch with early (beachhead) customers, working with key accounts (customer and account team) and field theatre teams, responding to field inquiries, assisting in CPOCs/customer trials and overall making a system FCS successful. The TME works with accounts to leverage our systems, writes up the findings for the benefit of the system and other accounts, and provides technical collateral to accelerate adoption of our systems.
Because of the early investigative work, in depth hands on technical expertise and collaboration with customers, TMEs are required to collaborate closely with other members of the system team.
Responsibilities
TME responsibilities and criteria for success include:
Works with Test Team to develop test scenarios, defining use cases, test requirements, performance targets test plans and summarizing test conclusions and assessing test issues. Ensures Test Team is testing real customer scenarios. If Sales Transaction Support (STS) is a deliverable, TME may be accountable to help create.
Actively participates in beachhead engagements and with Customers and Account Teams. Ensures feedback from customers is incorporated in the system (at the technical, not System Manager level).
Works with reference customers for system to ensure we offer applicable reference sources for field teams.
Responds to information queries from the field.
Creates and maintains relevant material as part of the communications and Go-to-Market Plans; e.g., FAQs on wiki, IWE Posts, White papers.
Assists in CPOCs and customer trials; makes the trials successful and ensures the observations (as built, as used) are fed into the system process (at the technical level).
For Proof of Concept (POC) tests, TME should take lead scope definition, target architecture and test requirements. POC work should be coordinated via a roadmap with engineering and where feasible executed jointly so as to leverage any experience on the engineering team.
Creates additional documentation of system beyond Test Team.
Helps field and system team with competitive intelligence on our competitors responses to system. Gathers competitive information from close working with customers and account team and ensure availability to other teams.
For specific systems releases, validates concepts via POC testing as required and writes technical papers based on findings.
Collaborates with technology and GTM partners for interoperability testing and system functional validation.
Supports customer demonstrations at internal labs, demo labs, and / or trade shows and conferences.
Contributes to Roadmaps as well as CC and EC presentation content especially regarding customers, configurations, and competitive and industry information.
Author/co-author white papers.
Responsible for documentation reviews in detail to provide the deployability and customer acceptance perspective of each release. Acts as an identified reviewer and provide input into (including authoring portions of):
System Requirements Doc (SRD)
System Architecture Specification (SAS)
Deployment & Implementation Guide (DIG)
Systems Roadmap
Collaborates with Field Solutions and CSE teams to leverage expertise and scaling potential.
Collaborates with CA and the field to provide technical TOI and NPI training in system technical content and SEVT events.
Candidate Profile, Skills and Qualifications
Deep technology expertise and in-depth product knowledge and experience of IP Routing, Switching, Wireless LANs, WiFi, 3G/LTE Technologies
Ability to work closely with customers.
Knowledge of Routing Protocols such as OSPF and BGP and Wireless technologies such as 802.11n, .11ac, PMIP, MAG/LMA, LTE and 3G is a strong plus
Strong hands-on skills for POC testing, interoperability, and validation activities.
Intimate knowledge of Service Provider and Enterprise customer architectures and requirements.
Typically requires 6 years experience as a TME, Technical Lead, Field CE, or CSE, preferably combined with a degree in EE, computer science or mathematics and if appropriate CCIE.
Strong verbal and written skills.
Experience presenting to Cisco development teams, field, customers, and technology forums.
